Learning to Read

Welcome to Little Learners Adventure!

At Liberty, we know young children learn best when structured guidance and spontaneous play move together. Little Learners Adventure is our thoughtfully designed combo class for three-, four-, and five-year-olds (Little Learners through Kindergarten) where curiosity leads the way and daily adventures become meaningful skill-building blocks.

Younger explorers enjoy a warm, play-rich environment that gently introduces routines, language, fine-motor skills, and a love of learning. As children grow into Kindergarten readiness, the same joyful classroom weaves in stronger academic foundations so they are prepared for first grade—without losing the wonder that makes these years special.

Children build early literacy through a phonics-based approach that introduces blends and allows them to read stories with one- and two-vowel words. They strengthen hand-eye coordination by learning to write letters, words, and eventually sentences. Daily Bible lessons bring the stories of Genesis and the life of Christ to life, helping little hearts know God’s Word. Math begins with counting and basic arithmetic, giving them a solid, age-appropriate start.

The program keeps the beautiful balance Liberty families love: focused lessons alongside hands-on activities, outdoor play, art, cooking, story time, and plenty of room to laugh, create, and make friends. Small classes mean every child is known, loved, and guided at their own pace in a mixed-age setting that feels like family.

Flexible 2-, 3-, or 5-day enrollment options for ages 3-4 years, let you find the perfect fit for your learner and your family. Half-day Kindergarten options are also convenient for families and offered Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30 AM.

Little Learners Adventure gives children everything they need for a joyful, Christ-centered beginning—ready for first grade and rooted in faith, curiosity, and community.

What We Cover

The Abeka K4 curriculum provides a comprehensive foundation for early learners by blending rigorous academics with character development. At its core, the program emphasizes phonics to transition children from letter sounds to reading sentences, alongside a numbers program that builds mastery in counting to 100 and basic addition. Beyond the basics, the curriculum integrates daily Bible lessons, manuscript or cursive writing, and skills development activities designed to sharpen motor coordination and listening. This traditional, instructor-led approach ensures students develop the academic confidence and social readiness needed for Kindergarten.

Daily Schedule

Each day begins at 8:30 AM in the sanctuary for prayer and the pledge. Mornings start with learner-directed exploration, where children choose their own learning path—whether building block towers, sorting shapes and colors, or engaging in imaginative role-play. These playful choices nurture independence while encouraging deeper critical thinking. Throughout the day, learners gather for engaging, hands-on group activities, including:

  • Story Circles: Retelling stories to build memory and expressive language skills.

  • Question of the Day: Prompting curiosity and problem-solving through open-ended discussion.

  • Hands-On Science: Encouraging prediction, testing, and discovery.

  • Outdoor Play: Developing teamwork, motor skills, and self-regulation through active outdoor movement.
